When I was 3, my dad told me he wrote that song. I believed him til I was in 4th grade.
I got the Christmas spirit today. FINALLY. My house is still a disaster due to the stomach bug I had last week and all weekend, but it's slowly recovering. Dean colored on the kitchen floor last night (!!!!!!!!!!!!) so cleaning that up took precedence over all other chores. As a result, I'm behind on laundry, the family room needs to be vacuumed and we can't even see the top of our desk. However, the Christmas cards are finally in the mail and I got a significant amount of shopping done today!
Dean's school has been having a Happy Birthday, Jesus party all week. They get to wear their pajamas to school each day and they have special Christmas snacks and lunches. Today they had pizza. I ran to Target and got gifts for his teachers today, then drove into Birmingham to the Babies R Us. Dean's getting a potty chair for his birthday (January 5--I think he's the youngest of the blog babies turning two). We went with a Fisher Price potty that's shaped like a frog head. The reviews online were really good and the salesman at the store said it worked well for his son. I also picked up a faucet cover for our bath tub, lest my little darling bonk his noggin on the big metal spigot (wouldn't THAT put a damper on the holidays? We had quite enough with the head injuries last year, thankyouverymuch).
I also picked up a cute bib for my new nephew! Did you know we're getting a new nephew? He's due March 1, but will enter the world via c-section some time in late February. If his big brother Adam is any indicator, he's going to be a big guy. (What's with the Lane men only producing giant male children?) I haven't seen my sister in law since August, but she was pretty big then...and she was only 10 weeks along. My mother in law said she looks like she could pop any day. I remember those days well. Anyway, I'm excited about a new little baby boy to love. His name will be Lucas, which I LOVE and which I suggested to Marcus when we were expecting Dean and which he and everyone else hated at the time. Go figure.
Speaking of babies, remember Meredith? Her baby boy is due on January 2, but will most likely join us early, thanks to an induction scheduled for December 28. Her little guy was breech almost her entire pregnancy, but then he turned all by himself (such a smart boy already!). I am hoping to be there when he's born, mostly to help keep Meredith sane and run interference if necessary. It's really exciting to have new little babies coming our way.
Dean seems to have finally learned that if you pull on Christmas ornaments, the tree WILL fall down. We are still working on our Christmas art project and our mantle is full of fun and colorful drawings and crafts. We have an obnoxiously large gift bag in the living room containing 200 Mega-Blocks and a Mega-Block bulldozer thingy that Dean's getting from his G-mama and Pop-Pop. I baked 3 dozen tea cakes yesterday to share with our co-workers. So, the holidays are right upon us. I'm really excited. I think Dean will have a blast this year and I'm looking forward to watching the magic of Christmas through his eyes.
Glad you're back up and running!
I'm getting a new niece in March- My side is ALL GIRLS except for Keaton so I was really hoping my sister would have a boy for him to pal around with, but we found out yesterday that nope! another girl. Oh well, a baby's a baby and I can still sniff her head and then give her back when she starts crying.
We've been having a potty chair saga over here that I'll get to writing about soon, but I will say that the frog potty chair (along with the baby bjorn one) were the highest recommended ones for boys, so good pick!

"tea cakes" and "spigots"
I love finding the southern-isms in your writing:)
We got a bumbo toilet seat insert and have a mini baby bjorn potty. I am hoping that Megan just wants to hop up and do her business into the big girl toilet so I'm not cleaning out potties, but this could be naive...

My nephew has the frog potty!
Glad you are feeling better. My Dad lied about a song too, but I believed him until I was 35! (HP is a friend of mine, she resembles Frankenstein, when she does the Irish jig, she resembles Porky Pig).
