Chez Lane has recently taken on the appearance of an infirmary. Dean and I have been sick since last Thursday. He seems to be all better, but I can't seem to shake this congestion and sore throat. We sat on the couch all weekend. Dean would nap for a bit, then wake up and go "Look at me! I feel refreshed! Let me run around the room like a nutball!!!!!!!!!!" Then about 20 minutes later he'd go "Whoa. I overdid it. Let me spike a fever again and pass out on my mom." So that was exhausting. There is juice in our fridge, there are boxes of Kleenex everywhere and the pile of laundry...well, let's just say it no longer fits within the confines of the basket.
I went back to work yesterday because my class has a midterm on Wednesday, so I needed to do a review. Several of my students picked the WRONG day to mess with me. This is one of those instances where I would love to be able to write about work, but I can't talk specifically about my students and some of the weird things they ask (and they are gems). We should really start an anonymous blog where we can share things like this.
Anyone doing NaBloPoMo? (Or NaNaBloPop as Marcus calls it) I did it last year, made some great friends and added some wonderful sites to my blogroll. I'm trying to decide if I've got the time or the drive to do it this year. If I do decide to do it, I may employ some of you as guest bloggers for a day or two. I'm already cooking up a fantastic guest writer for an upcoming Comfort Food Saturday.
I need to get out of the house today. A trip to the grocery store is in order. We're out of Splenda and that is unacceptable. Dean has a touch of cabin fever, too, having not really left the house since Thursday. He brought me my purse a minute ago and said "I go!" Unfortunately, it's raining, so our outing may be postponed for a bit longer.
What are your kids dressing up as for Halloween? Dean will be Batman this year. We're hoping everyone's feeling better so my parents can come for the weekend. Everyone be sure to post pictures! Who doesn't love a cute kid in a costume?
Glad Dean's feeling better ... hope Mommy feels all better soon. Casiday is going to be a gypsy for Halloween. My mom made her costume and it is ADORABLE!

No NaBloPoMo for me this year - since there is very little chance I will be able to (a) write that many meaningful posts and (b) that Junior will wait until Nov. 30 to come giving me the opportunity to write every day. But, I will probably try it again next year!
Glad Dean is getting better. Hopefully you will get better too wtih a little fresh air.
We aren't trick-or-treating because AJU5 goes to bed at 6:30ish most nights (i.e. very early). So, no dressing up here. But, we will hand out candy and tracts so she will have some candy too!

Oh Lordy I feel you on the cabin fever thing. I left my house today for the first time since Friday and was mildly surprised that the sun didn't burn me when I stepped outside the confines of our sick den. It was just a trip to the grocery store but the kids were so excited to get out they ran down the stairs and selected their shoes and coats 15 minutes before we left.
We go to my sisters for trick or treating every year and even though we really wanted Keaton to be either Harry Potter or a pirate, we promised we'd reuse Rowan's turtle costume from when she was 2, which is fitting because he gets stuck on his back so much.
Can't wait to see pics of Dean! Hope you guys get well soon!

I am glad that the bambino is better. I have had this annoying cough that just isnt going away. It always happens in the fall with all the mold in the air.
I am actually thinking of doing NaBloPoMo. I think it would be a great way to get some exposure. Just gotta get some posts in the can. Wshew. Its gonna be a crazy month!
