The good folks over at COZI are offering 15 moms who didn't get to go to BlogHer a $100 sponsorship! All we have to do is list the top 10 reasons we're glad we stayed home this weekend, then the blogs with the most comments WIN! So please, please, please comment!
And make sure you check out COZI. It's a great way to get organized!
My top 10:
10. Marcus's 20 year high school reunion is tomorrow. Ok, ready for a secret? WE ARE NOT GOING. (Enter even MORE sadness over the fact that I had to miss BlogHer!) We had planned to travel to DC at the end of last week and attend the reunion on Saturday. Then we found out how much the reunion would cost. $150 PER PERSON. Just for a 3-hour party. There's an open bar, food stations and music, but that does not seem worth $300, especially when you consider the cost of airfare to DC. So we're leaving on Tuesday instead to spend 2 weeks at my in-laws'.
9. I can publish Comfort Food Saturday from the comfort of my own kitchen.
8. More playtime with Dean!
7. I didn't have to get a haircut so I'd look good at BlogHer. I can sit here and enjoy my split ends in the privacy of my own home.
6. I didn't have to get "the wand" as I went through airport security. (I ALWAYS get the wand. I must look dangerous. What do you think?)
5. My husband is making this for dinner tonight.
4. I can read all about BlogHer from my friends on Twitter. I can wear my PJ's while doing this.
3. There's no sweet tea in Chicago.
2. I have time to write articles for Foodie Mama.
1. I can work all weekend to get myself a sponsor (or multiple sponsors) for Type-A Mom Conference!
Good luck on getting sponsors for Type A Mom! I bet you won't have any problems. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you get your Cozi sponsorship too!

Oh, I hope you win!!! Those are all good reasons to stay home, so enjoy your weekend with your guys.

You are such a good mom that you had rather be home with your men than to be in Chicago where you couldn't get any sweet tea. Who wants unsweet tea?!

Sounds like perfect reasons to stay home! Love you guys! :) Hope you win!

Love your hair, hope you win

Wow, $150 each for a reunion! Forget it. Especially if the people he went to high school with are like most of my classmates. *laugh*
Enjoy reading the tweets about blogher. I'm getting a little too much blogher info, actually. While I want to meet all of those awesome people, I can tell I'd be too overwhelmed and shy to even say hi. :(

I'm SO glad you are staying home this weekend! Gives you a chance to relax, pack and get ready for your trip! Yeah, my reunion cost an arm and a leg and we didn't even eat. Plus, there was a cash bar! Nice.

I'm sure BlogHer is a blast, but staying home is not so bad. Have fun with the little guy and I hope you have a great trip to the in-laws!
Good luck to both of us with the Cozi contest, I'm hoping to win too!
Posted by: Sarah | July 24, 2009 at 06:17 PM

Enjoy!

Good Luck!
Parts of me wishes I was at BlogHer, but big, unknown city + large group of people I do not know may not be as much fun as I imagine in my head!

Reason 11 (why? because 11 is higher than 10, so it's better, right?): You get to sit around the house and make fun of your goofy husband for making up ridiculous lyrics to your favorite 80's tunes and for critiquing the bad make up jobs of several hosts on HG TV!

Actually McDonald's in IL are now serving sweet tea. Must be another sign of the end of times!

Good luck Jen! Brandon's reunion did the same thing with pricing...seriously, how much do they think he wants to see them again? :)

You could have your own high school reunion and recreate a little prom night action - just the two of you! I love keeping up with you from afar - it's great!!!!!

I agree with what others said. $150.00? No way. Have a good weekend!

Fine, if nobody else is going to say it I will: You DO look dangerous.

Good luck Jen! Dean is adorable! I know I'd stay home to play with my kid over travel anyday.

I get the full go stand in that glass box and remove all accessories (sometimes with a TSA portfolio review if I'm carrying it!) every time I fly. EVERY. TIME.
WIn, Jen, win!

You must have gotten the dangerous look from me since I got searched at every airport from Memphis to Ithaca in Nov. 2001. Must be the smile. LOL!
Posted by: J | July 25, 2009 at 10:52 AM
Your split ends are lucky to have you Jen! Enjoy that "stay-cation"!!!
Posted by: Maurisa | July 25, 2009 at 01:04 PM
You get the wand! That's funny. You must look dangerous when you travel. When I get patted down at the airport I just pretend it's a mini-massage. Have fun staying home! Give Dean a big hug from me!

Hey there fellow Alabamian! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I hope you win the contest! Your food looks absolutely delish and you family is just precious! My son has the same blue robot shirt from WalMart! I LOVE paying three bucks for a shirt. My kids gets stains on their clothes the second they put them on!
